“Over 6 years ago I attended my first class at Gracie Humaita Bolton, and the rest as they say is history. At the time I had no idea what I was getting involved with, I was an overweight middle aged smoker. I was looking for a way to get back in shape and have some fun while doing it. I started by taking some Muay Thai classes and was quickly convinced to try Brazilian Jiu jitsu. At my first class I was amazed by how welcome everyone made me feel and how laid back yet professional the instructors and staff were. I remember being nervous about embarrassing myself or not being able to keep up, but was reassured by the learning atmosphere and the common goal of the students and school to educate each other. Over the past 6 years I have gone through some personal struggles and have used the martial arts as a kind of therapy. Every time you step on the mats the outside world is blocked out and the focus is on improvement and learning. The Gracie Humaita Bolton location has become a second home for me where myself and my two children are able to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a safe, family oriented environment. I am now in great shape mentally and physically and am continuing to improve daily and weekly. I would sincerely recommend Gracie Humaita Bolton to anyone wanting to learn the Art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and change their lives.”
“Best owner!! Best trainers! Best School around! And the best students! Come train at the CBBA with Jason and his friends!!!!!”
“Jason is a not a person who runs a Martial Arts business – it’s truly his profession. It’s great to see Jason not only teach Martial Arts but stick to fundamental character principles of bettering one’s self. Keep up the great work!!!”
“An absolutely fantastic school. The kids are always excited to go to their classes. The teachers are great. Mr Jason is a great instructor … keeps the kids in line but still making it a fun environment. Really happy we joined. Keep up the good work!”
“I don’t want to give generic praise for this club as I feel it would do a disservice to the message I want to convey. Gracie Humaita Bolton-Canada is by far one of the best martial arts clubs I have been a part of. I have over the years been involved in Olympic Freestyle Wrestling, Boxing, Karate, Traditional Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing. I was lucky enough to be a kickboxing student of Wally Slocki in the 1980’s. So I have been around the block to coin a phrase. Back in the day, you used to have to go to downtown Toronto to find an adequate level of martial arts instruction and to get away from cookie cutter dojos. As a boxer and a wrestler I knew these were just not effective in a real world application. So I trekked from Mississauga to downtown 4 times a week to train as a kick-boxer. I say this not to impress but to give you an idea of weight of what I am saying.
How lucky you are if you are somebody who lives in Bolton and wishes to train in an effective martial art and an effective self-defense system. How lucky you are to have kids that wish to train in martial arts and you have Gracie Humaita Bolton to go to. There are already people traveling from outside Bolton (myself included) just to train at this club.
The level of instruction at Gracie Humaita Bolton is exemplary, whether you are receiving instruction from Professor Dave Gonzales who is an incredible reservoir of BJJ knowledge or being trained by the owner Jason Figliano. (Jason runs the BJJ club but also the partnered Canadian Black Belt Academy.) The higher belt students are extraordinarily adept instructors in their own right. It is a family environment in which you are assured that you will progress in this very challenging, effective and rewarding martial art.
I am a youth football coach and I know great instruction when I see it. You would be very hard pressed to find a better club anywhere in Canada. That is not an exaggeration but an accurate statement as I am not alone in this assertion. The Canadian Black Belt Academy (Jason Figliano’s Karate Club that is partnered with Gracie Humaita Bolton) has awarded the Reader’s Choice Award for favorite martial arts club in Caledon. The Canadian Black Belt Academy was also featured as one of the top five martial arts clubs according to City Life Magazine.
Here is the kicker and this is what sells me on Jason Figliano’s club more than anything. He is an honest businessman. This is an oxymoron in today’s world but it is true. The man is always honest and keeps his word. He is always willing to work with his students and make their experience as beneficial as he possibly can. You would be hard pressed to find a better role model. You would be hard pressed to find a better martial arts school for a young student to develop in.”
“Real world training by expert and knowledge staff. My fellow Jiu Jitsu students are friendly but serious about learning this art. Great environment.”
“BEST IN CLASS! Incredible team of Instructors. Always looking for ways to improve to the next level. Keep up the great work.”
“Even after 2 classes we can see the change in attitude with our son. He is loving it and can can hardly wait to go to classes. Great instructors and guidance with true discipline.”
